Some of our previous bespoke courses
Sutton Grammar School - Interview guidance and Mock MMI’s with feedback
Sutton Grammar were looking for a combination of engaging and detailed interview preparation and Mock Interviews for their year 12s and 13s.
One of our expert NHS Doctors delivered a ½ day interview preparation course that included guidance on Ethics, Classic questions and advanced communication stations. We were able to deliver this remotely via Zoom so students could attend from home or school.
We then co-ordained a mock medical school interview for every student. Our NHS Doctors and Medical students, all had experience as medical school interviewers from a range of medical school across the country. Each student took part in a 5 station, 1-1, online MMI Interview, that lasted around 45 minutes. Each student received direct personalised feedback from their interviewer as well as written feedback and a detailed framework for each question.
West Lancashire College - Full Interview guidance and preparation
West Lancashire College were looking for advanced interview preparation for their year 13 medical school applicants.
After speaking to the college, and understanding the students had already covered a basic level of medical school interview preparation, we created 4 x 2 hour bespoke interview training sessions that covered the more advanced medical school interview topics and question styles. We further tailored these sessions by identifying and researching the medical schools the students had already applied to.
Aberdeenshire Council approached us when COVID-19 stopped their students’ in-person work experience placements. We were tasked with creating an online replacement for their placements that delivered the same level of interaction, skills development and also met their curriculum. We had to create something that was applicable for all allied healthcare roles, nursing, midwifery, paramedics, doctors, health and social care and physiotherapy etc.
Over the past 24 months we have developed and delivered over 1100 hours of learning across 11 schools for Aberdeenshire Council. All delivered safely online via our professional teaching studio and Zoom. We created 4 bespoke courses that allowed students to speak directly to patients and face real-life challenges. Students faced a wide range of medical cases in settings such as GP Surgeries, Hospital Wards, Nursing Homes, Domestic settings and professional work environments. Students learned valuable skills and frameworks that meet their curriculum requirements as well as help prepare them for the real world of further education and the world of work.
Ward Round Live: How to assess patient notes, updating patients on their examination results and ensuring their comfort, creating management plans as a team, reflecting and giving feedback on their own and others’ consultations. Students also were given a 30 minute paramedic talk on life and experiences as a paramedic, as well as a Q&A.
International Medical Education Agency
The International Agency wanted to provide their Thai students to learn about medicine within the UK and about the National Health Service. Their school timetables were very busy and could only take part in a course over the weekend.
We adapted our standard GP Live course to include a lot more education about the UK’s healthcare system and structure. We educated the students on the role of a GP and how it fits in with the larger healthcare system. Students then learned frameworks on how to speak to patients, how to take patient histories and diagnosing a variety of medical conditions. Also, due to the time difference, we started this at 6am UK time to suit their time zone.
Feedback From Partner Schools
We are proud to have strong partnerships with top UK and International schools
We have collaborated with Medical Projects for two years now to offer our upper sixth student an opportunity to gain interview experience and learn how to perform well in an MMI. Working with the team has been great, they have developed a bespoke course for our school based on our students’ needs. Amy and her colleagues listened carefully to my requests and have gone out of their way to accommodate them. The students have benefitted so much from the course and mock MMI and really looked forward to the process and gaining their written feedback. It has allowed them to grow in confidence and be far more ready to tackle the real interviews when they start. Overall, a fantastic experience for all involved and I would highly recommend it.
Medical Projects hosted the terrific live online workshops to our students last November. I was pleased that I made the right decision for coordinating with them. Ms. Amy Hooper was excellent for creating and managing the workshops professionally despite the time differences between two countries. She answered all the questions and also customized what our students needed on their certificates.
Moreover, the instructors and the team made these workshops as real as possible as though we had insights from actual hospitals. We had a great time working together.
