Hands-on Paramedic Work Experience
We believe students learn best when placed in fully immersive situations. That’s why in this course, you will be the paramedic for a week. You will participate in multiple paramedic simulations where you will take on the first-responder role. You’ll experience the pressure of being a paramedic and get the hands-on work experience that universities are looking for in applicants.
Get Experience in a First Response Setting
The work of a paramedic can be really varied. On our course you will see and try many different activities that are a part of a paramedic’s day to day work. This includes activities such as CPR, administering injections, first AID, decision making under pressure, wound management and so much more!

Insight into a Paramedic’s Work
Universities want applicants that have a realistic view of paramedics’ work. Our course will give you just that. Not only will you get paramedic work experience, but you will also get insight into the day-to-day life of a paramedic and understand the pros and cons of this profession.
Take Part in Emergency Scenarios
Students will get their hands on the most advanced paramedic training equipment used to train real paramedics. This way, students can practice their skills before applying to a paramedic focused course, showcase their newly gained knowledge and skills during their applications, and get the edge over the other applicants!

Mock Paramedic Science Interviews
Every student on this course will do a mock interview to experience the atmosphere of a paramedic science interview before doing the actual interview. Students will also get personal feedback from our mentors so they can improve their performance and practice the parts of the interview they struggle most with.
Teaching By NHS Paramedics and Paramedic Science Students
To ensure our students get the most authentic experience possible, the course is delivered by professional paramedics and current paramedic science students. Students will also benefit from spending the whole week with individuals who can answer all their questions based on their personal experience on their journey to becoming paramedics.

Student Socials
A key part of the week is the chance to make friends with like-minded students and share a once-in-a-lifetime educational trip. We organise a range of relaxed student activities in the evenings for you to socialise, relax, and unwind after a busy day of learning.
Accommodation, breakfast and evening meals are included every day. We use some of the best student accommodation in London. We have two main accommodation partners: Middlesex University and Stay Club. We use these as they are safe, secure and have great amenities and travel links.

Unlike many other course providers, we have full-time Medical Projects members of staff on the course at all times. All our staff are enhanced DBS checked, First Aid trained and Safeguarding qualified. Our student to staff ratio is always at least 8:1 and we always have a female member of staff on duty at all times.

Day 1 - Sunday
Sunday is arrival day for all students. We have several meeting/collection points as we have UK and International students. The arrival locations are as follows:
1. Kings Cross Train Station
2. Heathrow International Arrivals
3. Meet at the accommodation
There are specific time slots during the day for each meeting point which you’ll receive upon booking your space. Our staff will be there to meet all students in-person. We will then have dinner before delivering our student induction, safety and safeguarding protocols. Students can then relax, meet all their fellow students and prepare for a busy week.
Day 2 - Monday
On Monday, students will be introduced to the role of a paramedic. Students will find out what does a day-to-day life of a paramedic look like, the duties of a paramedic, and how a paramedic should interact with patients in emergency scenarios. Students will do their first paramedic simulation in the afternoon and practice their first patient interaction.

- Daily debrief
Day 3 - Tuesday
Tuesday is a clinical skills day. Students will first understand how paramedics administer injections, treat wounds, perform first AID and CPR, assess patients and use defibrillators and ventilators. This theoretical session is followed by practical sessions where students will try all these activities themselves.

Day 4 - Wednesday
Wednesday is focused on more simulations and more patient scenarios. Students will take part in several simulation scenarios where they will have to administer medication, treat wounds and work with the patient to calm them down. The afternoon is focussed on one of the most important characteristics of a paramedic – the ability to make swift decisions and stay calm under pressure. Students will learn how to manage their own stress level in extremely stressful situations and then they will take part in various activities where they will practice this newly learnt skill.
Covered:

The afternoon session is about the life of a paramedic and the life of being a paramedic student. In the evening, we also do a special social activity to finish the course. This could be a theatre visit, museum visit or something different altogether! This activity is optional and has to be paid separately – more details on this will be provided closer to the date.
